Typically the government will pay the full cost of your medical dermatology consultation. If you are unable to get a referral from a family physician, either because you do not have a doctor, or the wait is too long, you can pay the difference between a specialist and family doctor visit, and we will waive the need to have a referral altogether. This is outline in the MSP Fee codes (section C.14)
